Overview

Los Mariscos - New York stands as a vibrant beacon for lovers of authentic Mexican seafood. Nestled in the heart of Chelsea at 409 W 15th St, this spot offers an inviting experience that captures the essence of coastal Mexico through fresh, expertly prepared dishes.

The menu centers on key highlights that define the brand’s culinary identity: fish tacos, shrimp ceviche, aguachile verde, and the ever-popular shrimp broth. Each dish showcases a remarkable balance of freshness and bold flavors, making it clear that quality seafood is at the core of their craft. Whether it’s the crisp snap of a perfectly fried fish taco or the lively, spicy punch of aguachile, every bite reflects careful attention to tradition and taste.

Los Mariscos is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience. The space, though popular and often bustling, exudes a warm and energetic atmosphere that draws in a diverse crowd—from local New Yorkers looking for a casual dinner to seafood aficionados craving authentic mariscos. The friendly staff elevates this atmosphere: customers often mention the personal touches from the team, like Griselda's warm welcome and the manager's attentive service. This human connection enhances a sense of trust and belonging.

Drinks complement the food perfectly, ranging from classic Mexican sodas to well-crafted micheladas and margaritas, all served with fresh, balanced ingredients. The clamato with beer and the refreshing aguas frescas add layers of authenticity to the experience, pairing beautifully with the bold seafood offerings.

The ceviche selection is a standout—customers often return just for it. The Especial Ceviche, combining shrimp, clams, scallops, and octopus, is praised for its freshness and depth of flavor. Shrimp and fish ceviches each bring their own appeal, making this a versatile menu item that caters to various palates.

While some dishes, like the seafood cocktail, might occasionally leave room for improvement, the overall culinary craftsmanship remains consistent. The tacos receive unanimous acclaim; both shrimp and fish versions are celebrated as some of the city’s best, prized for their perfect texture and seasoning. The salsa offerings further enhance the meal, giving diners the freedom to customize and heighten the sensory experience.

In essence, Los Mariscos - New York is a well-rounded destination that successfully blends authentic Mexican seafood with a lively, welcoming environment. It appeals not just to casual diners but also to those seeking a genuine taste of Mexico’s coastal flavors in an urban setting. For anyone in Chelsea or nearby, this spot is a must-visit for an unforgettable seafood feast anchored by fresh ingredients, attentive service, and a genuine passion for mariscos.

My husband and I are OBSESSED with Los Mariscos. Like, I genuinely own the t-shirt. The food is so fresh and delicious with such kind and incredible staff. Griselda is always so warm and kind at the check out counter. Secret bonus tip, ask to try the shrimp consume, it is INCREDIBLE and a free way to start off your meal. The ceviche is my personal favorite, all types. Generally I get at least 3 (usually two fish and one shrimp.) While at the popular partner spot, Los Tacos I swear by the tacos, but for me, ceviche is where it’s at here. Drinks are spot on with fresh lime juice and appropriate portions. If you’re ever in Chelsea, check out this gem! I hope more locations open over time, but for now, this is a favorite weekly dinner spot I will continue to enjoy.

As a Mexican for me this a perfect place. It has everything great music, excellent food and perfect customer service. I’m not kidding. Last time I went there the manager personally took away my plates after I finished my food. He personally took care of every question I asked and was very professional. Cashier always on point fast and efficient. Best thing about this place is the tacos of course. I might be in love with them. Shrimp or fish they are 10/10 I celebrated my 24th birthday and ever since then this has been a special place to me in the city. In my opinion this is a top ten restaurant for me. I always visit them whenever I can. I recommend it a hundred percent. I’ll leave you some photos of my birthday.

Love this place! It gets packed in there but make sure to grab a seat if you can. You also have to make sure to listen carefully to get your order number! Also make sure to ask for the shrimp broth it really brings the dishes to the next level. If you get the fish tacos make sure to eat it first before it gets soggy. I was craving fish tacos and this really scratched the itch. What really surprised me was how good the especial ceviche was. There is also so many types of hot sauce just be careful how much you put on your food! Thought the clams were okay nothing that makes them stand out

The seafood cocktail (Campechano) had very little seafood in it. I honestly thought I might have been served the simple shrimp cocktail by mistake. It was basically a tall glass of salsa with only a few shrimp, completely lacking clams, scallops, and octopus. They serve a peanut sauce and a few others that are extraordinary and one of a kind. 4 stars just for that. The service was great, and the atmosphere is vibrant. I would absolutely go back to try some other items on the menu.

The food was so good I forgot to take pictures! If you ever had Los Tacos No.1 in NYC, there is there seafood tacos joint located on the side block of Chelsea Market. You can expect the same quality service and food as all of their other locations. I ended up keeping it simple with several fish tacos. The fish was fried perfectly. The sauces were abundant and properly spicy! Definitely a busy lunch spot and totally worth it if you are in the neighborhood. Sidenote: they also offer ceviche, aquachiles, and a small bar for beer, Tequila and mezcal

No wonder there was a long line when my husband and I got there because the food was delicious. I did like the fish tacos better than the shrimp though. The ceviche was amazing, at least for me. The wait was not bad at all.

Los Mariscos is an absolute gem! The moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by a lively and authentic Mexican atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re right on the coast of Mexico. The seafood is incredibly fresh — especially the oysters, which were some of the best I’ve ever had. The seafood tacos were bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. Everything tasted fresh, vibrant, and made with care. If you love great Mexican food and a fun, welcoming vibe, Los Mariscos is a must-visit!
